Vintage Polly Pocket RARE Porcelain Doll figure lot from 1997 by Bluebird Toys. This listing of rare collector’s items includes 11 doll figures that are part of a character-themed line of French Fèves (tiny porcelain figurines also known as “Beans”) without packaging. Made of porcelain, these timeless treasures are a unique addition to any Polly Pocket collection. Below is a brief history of these rare, hard to find collectables from my understanding. They came in a series of 12 with 6 Pollys & 6 of her friends. The Pollys (in dark brown or black hair) include her ice skating, roller blading, doing aerobics & lifting some light weights. 6 of her friends including Midge (with brown hair instead of her usual strawberry blonde), Pixie (with strawberry blonde instead of brown), LuLu (with strawberry Blonde instead of brown), Tina (with brown hair instead of blonde), Diddy (with strawberry blonde instead of brown) and Wee Willy (with blonde hair, but wearing a red hat that looks like what Diddy would usually wear). The characters here are thought to have hair color and other changes due to IP legality reasons during the time of their release. In France they enjoy a holiday called the Epiphany holiday in celebration and memory of the three wise men giving baby Jesus gifts. This is celebrated on January 6th. For this holiday bakeries would make special cake pastries called king cakes containing a charm, usually a porcelain or plastic figurine, called a fève or bean. If you find the Fève in your piece of cake then you are the king or queen and you will have good luck for the year and get a crown.
